Just south of Hollywood is the legendary town of Beverly Hills. We all know that Beverly Hills is home to famous celebrities and the wealthiest of the wealthy, however, do you know that Beverly Hills is also home to witches? In fact, there is a well know landmark dubbed The Witches House that rests on N Walden Drive in the heart of the city.
The Witches House is really a mini-sized mansion and it's also being among the most obtuse looking residences actually developed.
The beginnings of this house - whose real moniker is The Spadena House - date back to 1921, a real golden age of Hollywood when silent films were taking the entire world by storm. The house was built for a movie studio located in nearby Culver City, CA.
The strange look of The Witch's House truly does cause it to stand out from the many other elegant homes in the region. This house is built like a common Brothers Grimm style witches holiday cottage ala Hansel & Gretel. The roofing of the house provides the overall look of being dilapidated and it points upwards in a way that it literally looks like a witch's hat. There is a slope to the walls quite uncommon among houses in the area...and even for good reason. The way the ways slope the whole property appears to be if it is not structurally sound.
Lastly, of course, a creepy looking picket fence surrounding the house completes the whole scenario? The oddest element is a bridge that allows for passage over a moat. Yes, that is correct...there is definitely a moat on the property. Why a witch uses a moat is mysterious, yet it's there and it certainly helps the exact property get noticed a lot more.
The Witch's House is certainly one of the strangest attractions in all of the Hollywood area.
