The World's Coolest Supermodels In 2011

The top women fashion models have been blessed with great genes. But, they had to combine that with resolve and hard work. It was worked out well for them, in providing a good lifestyle for themselves.

Alessandra Ambrosio is 5th out of the top 5 fashion models in the world. The gorgeous Brazilian born model recognized at the age of 8 that she wanted to become a model. When she was 14, she was a top 20 finalist in one of Brazil's major modeling contests. The success has been amazing for her since then, and has a reported $6 million annual earning.

Next on the list is Adriana Lima, another Brazilian stunner. However, unlike Ambrosio, modeling was not an early passion for Lima. She entered a contest, so a school friend didn't have to enter alone. The sponsor of the contest took notice of her, and it all bloomed from there. At 15, she won first place in Ford's "Supermodel of Brazil". In 1996, she came in second at the world-level contest. Today, the striking beauty is the 4th top fashion model, with annual earnings of $6 million.

Third on the list is Heidi Klum, a German model with world-wide recognition. Even though Klum had a smile that any camera would love, she wasn't interested in modeling at an early age. However, she was talked into trying a German national modeling contest, "Model 92". No surprise that she took first place out of 25,000 girls. The modeling world soon welcomed Klum into their fold, and hasn't let go since. Her recent annual earnings are $8 million.

Sitting pretty in the second spot is English model Kate Moss. While Moss was at the JFK Airport in New York City, she had an unlikely encounter with Sarah Doukas, founder of Storm Model Management. Since that day, the waif appeal made a comeback with Moss's willowy figure gracing runways and cameras. All was well, until photos of Moss allegedly snorting cocaine hit the news. Even though she expressed regret for her behavior, she never confessed to using drugs. It must have been enough, because she is earning $9 million a year.

It's probably no surprise that Gisele Bundchen is currently the top fashion model in the world, as she is everywhere. Her mother persuaded her to attend a modeling course, because Bundchen's original goal was to play professional volleyball. When she was 13, she and her classmates were eating at McDonalds, where she was detected by an agency and successful competitions followed. But, it wasn't until she moved to New York and made her unveiling at Fashion Week that her career soared. Notably more than everyone else, she is currently earning $33 million a year.
