It has been established that Charice can sing. But since the announcement that she'll be appearing on Glee Season 2, what people have been curious about is on whether she can successfully transition from being a singer/performer to being an actor. When I saw the videos of her acting stints on Philippine TV, I was not impressed at all. That is why it is reasonable for both fans and critics to be anticipating how her acting will unfold on the American show.
Luckily, her stints on Glee Season 2 from beginning to end have shown impressive improvements. Her acting has drastically enhanced and the emotions she gave we appropriate to every line that she spoke. Even her diction showed great improvement.
Many critics have pointed the fact that she gained weight. I don't think so. It seems that Charice has always been that way but the dress, hairstyle, camera angle, and etc. have contributed to emphasizing her round features. The overemphasis on her weight is exaggerated and is very unhealthy.
Today's media has brought too much focus on weight and this has caused a lot of pressure on the teens in Hollywood leading them to ghastly anorexic and/or bulimic states.
Charice's weight is not a deal. Of course, this is not to say that she shouldn't be watching it. But it is important to note that these critics have an over-sensitive eye on the non-essential. What they should be focusing on is the grandeur of her performance.
Charice sang with returning champions Vocal Adrenaline and belted out an original song entitled "As Long As You're There". The performance was overall impressive. The song's lyrics are noteworthy and the arrangement is spectacular. What's more, the song is able to display Charice's full range and thus giving her talent justice. Every detail of that performance was breath-taking.
Charice has also recently released other singles from her upcoming sophomore album. The songs are "One Day", "Before It Explodes", "Louder", and "Lost The Best Thing". All these singles make fans anticipate an awesome album because in every way, these are better than the songs in her debut album. Perhaps this year, Charice will gain a bigger recognition - one that she truly deserves.
