Veliki Brat is the Serbian edition of the Big Brother reality show, which was initially on the program in 2006 by the local TV Pink and B92 network where all competitors were entirely from Serbia. Veliki Brat grew into very successful and popular show, and as a result it reached over the borders, developing in the adjacent countries and recruiting contestants from all surrounding republics

Veliki Brat 2011 has sixteen participants with various professions and age; the oldest participant is fifty-five, which verifies that the show is popular among all generations. The game is easy, directed by simple rules, where all the rivals perform miscellaneous assignments and judging on their results every week one person goes home.

The laws of Veliki Brat 2011 are simple, the participants are not permitted to have any communication with the outer world, their families, friends, and they cannot use mobiles, internet or watch TV. The setting of the reality show is about the challengers and the connection among them and all circumstances that happen to them, which are diligently captured on cameras hidden around the house to present every single move the challengers make. The show draws many viewers because of the bold and exciting situations, which inescapably happen among the participants since they are staying locked in the house for a very long time, sharing everything.

Before the start of the show, a trailer was aired where some of the previous participants and Boki 13, popular Macedonian singer from the celebrity edition were students in Veliki Brat - Skola za poznate (Big Brother's School of Fame) wearing uniforms and the hosts were their teachers. While the media already identified the show "School of Fame" the valid name of the fifth season is "Ljubi bliznjeg svoga" (Love your Neighbor), which is a phrase taken from the Bible.

The second trailer was emitted couple of weeks before the start of the reality show, depicting it with flowers in descending movements while the motto "Ljubi bliznjeg svoga" (Love your Neighbor) is showing on the screen. Tattler talks were circling around, guessing who will be the new hosts of the franchise, and while a number of celebrities were in range at the end Antonija Blace and Marijana Micic won the race.

After the first broadcasting of the newest season, Veliki Brat 2011 was criticized for containing distasteful and unacceptable content and for the first time the show was rated as 18+ programs. The greatest thing in Veliki Brat 2011 is the reward, which was moved up to 150.000 Euros but the winner does not take all the money because with every error they lose couple of thousands.
