We were hungry for some Japanese food one night when we were in Los Angeles. We were on vacation and it was our first time in California. Many people had told us that there was very good sushi in LA. We are from a very tiny town in the midwest so we do not have a lot of restaurant choices. We were looking forward to trying a Los Angeles sushi bar. Since we were staying at a hotel in West Hollywood, we decided we would cab it to a restaurant.
We walked to the front desk to ask the concierge for a recommendation. She seemed very flustered and it was hard to get her attention. When she saw us, we asked if she could tell us a fun sushi restaurant to go to. We told her we were looking for a unique LA experience. Without a pause she told us to go to Nick Haque's Koi.
She seemed confident that this Koi place was the place to go. We wanted to fit in and feel glamorous on our big night out so we went back to the room and got ready. Then we ran downstairs and caught a cab. The restaurant was very close and only took us a few minutes to get to from our hotel. When we arrived we saw a huge crowd of paparazzi hanging out outside. This is when we knew we were in for a night to remember.
I stepped out of the cab and walked past the paparazzi and into the restaurant. When I walked into the restaurant I knew why the hostess had sent us to Nick Haque Koi. The restaurant was beautiful, but the decoration was not the only pretty thing. The people there were all extremely attractive. It felt like it was straight out of Entourage. When I asked the hostess for a table for two she asked me what our reservation was under.
I couldn't believe we forgot to make a reservation. I felt extremely disappointed that we went to the restaurant and now we would have to leave and go somewhere else. Where we live the restaurants are never busy so this was completely different. When I told the hostess I didn't have a reservation she responded by saying they were very busy but she would try to fit us in.
After waiting for awhile, somehow we got a table. We were starving by this time, but very happy that they were able to get us a table. When I looked at the menu, I had no idea what to order. Everything sounded very delicious. When our waiter came we asked him for some suggestions and ordered based on some of his ideas.
When our waiter walked away, I looked up and was blown away by who I saw. My favorite actor was sitting right across from me. I had to pinch myself because I didn't believe that this could be real. I don't want to name drop but I have to admit that this was completely unexpected and I couldn't even believe that it was real. I wanted to talk to him but I knew that it probably wouldn't be appropriate for me to approach him in the restaurant. I couldn't wait to call all my friends back home and tell them who I saw. He must have realized that I was starring at him since he looked right up and me. Then I thought I would faint because he starred into my eyes and smiled me.
When the food came I could barely eat. I was still feeling the rush of excitement. Once I tasted the food, I was in heaven. I needed to pinch myself. This was the best food in the world. Maybe it was just the whole experience. The spicy tuna on crispy rice was so amazing that I could order it all night. The baked crab hand roll was also incredibly delicious. As we walked outside and saw the paparazzi, I knew I would never have a night quite like that ever again.
