It is not very surprising to find out that a lot of famous people love body art, nor is it shocking that those who are in the public eye and in the media have quite a large sway on the American population's captivation with body art. The celebrities have body art, so all of their followers want tattoos as well. For stars, age is not a factor; more aged stars as well as the younger ones get them. We recognize many of these people-- but how much do we know about what unique variations of artwork they have?

Among America's most popular movie celebrities, Robert DeNiro, has appeared in movies showing off several tattoos. Regardless of whether his fans realize that they are only accessories for his movies, the fact is in real life Robert DeNiro has just one tattoo, that of a black panther. Another actor who showcases many body art in his films is Johnny Depp; all of his, however, are authentic. Bruce Willis also has several tattoos most notably the image of his movie "Die Hard."

Tattoos have long been in vogue with music artists. Former teen idol Justin Timberlake has a guardian angel, amongst others. Rapper Eminem has more body art than can be counted, which includes his daughter's name and his own. The text on Keith Urban's wrist, "Omni Vincit Amor" is Latin for 'Love Conquers All,' he also has an eagle on one arm.

Some sports celebrities likewise go for body art. Michael Jordan has his fraternity symbol inked above his heart, while Dennis Rodman is a virtual canvas of artwork.

Not to be surpassed, numerous female stars likewise show various degrees of artwork. Young actress Drew Barrymore is essentially a canvas full of tattoos; it is said that she created most of the designs herself. Reese Witherspoon is more subtle, wearing only one small star tattoo which is rarely visible. Pamela Anderson has a variety of body art also, the most distinctive being the word 'Mommy' on one finger, which reportedly used to read 'Tommy.' Spice Girl Victoria Beckham has five stars to represent each member of her family, her husband's initials, and the customary Jewish phrase 'I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine.'

Many of today's models also sport body art. Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, and Stephanie Seymour all have these long-lasting forms of fashion accessories. Most supermodels who decide on body art show fewer and smaller designs than famous people in other job areas.

While many stars have had body art for a very long time, the popularity of tattoos amongst celebrities has been escalating, both in the quantity of celebs who get them and the amount of tattoos that they have. A very few have simply one tattoo; increasingly more are taking on a large number of body art as well as a growing number of noticeable body art, using skin as a canvas for nearly unlimited varieties of permanent artwork.

As celebs showcase their body art, and this is discovered by the media, it presents an ever-growing influence for their fans, especially within the younger age group, to want to do the same. Similar to anything else that stars do in the public eye, their influence with body art aids this form of artwork to grow to be more prevalent, more popular, and more appropriate to most of the American population as a whole.
