Spanish Style Home Influences

By Luis Pezzini

A Spanish style home is one of those homes that stick out when they are seen. The reason is that these homes are always of a neutral color, such as off white or cream, while also having red clay roofing. It is hard to miss the fact that these homes are of Spanish style. Many people love these kinds of homes because they are so unique and the simplicity of these types of homes make them even more beautiful to people. Plus, they are relatively easy to maintain since the stucco that the exterior is made of can simply be power washed when it becomes dirty.

For many reasons, many people want to bring more of this Spanish style into their own home. However, with many types of home this is impossible simply because they do not have the way to be a Spanish styled home. For example, consider a home that is typical in the South, no one wants to turn the farmhouse into a Spanish styled home with a neutral siding and red clay roof. It just wouldn't look as good. However, there are ways in which those that are in love with these style of homes, bring that style or some part of that style into their own home.

The interior is probably the easiest way to bring in the Spanish style to a home. For example, many of these homes are painted with Mediterranean colors that are in teals and blues. While also boasting an open floor plan that is going to immediately remind those that enter the designs have some influence from the Spanish style. The person should also incorporate red colors into the home where they can whether it be in the tiles of the kitchen or the dishes that they use if they are wanting to give a more Spanish influence.

Outside people can incorporate more red clay pots around the home in order to give off a more Spanish style. Also, the use of wrought iron is something that most people consider to be of the Spanish style and can also prove to be a great way to enhance a landscape. Brightly colored flowers in the yard are also a way to bring out the Spanish style a bit more.

Overall, those that have never seen a Spanish style home have more than likely seen one, as they are often featured on movies and many television shows. However, they may have not known just exactly what makes a Spanish style home considered this style. Those that do want to build such a home are going to find that designers are everywhere and most are ready to design one of these homes. However, since the materials are different these homes do better in warmer climates.
