The Lincoln Town Car will be killed off in September, with no full size, front-engine, and rear-drive platform to replace it. Instead, Lincoln is banking on fleet adoption of their under-selling MKT crossover, which is only available in FWD and AWD configurations. It is not exactly elegant, either, and stepping out of a crossover does not have the same impact as stepping out of a limousine. Most notable about the MKT decision is Lincoln's departure from the traditional sedan body style that has defined successive versions of the Lincoln Town Car Executive L for decades. But Ford managers made the bottom line very clear: The new taller and longer MKT CUV-style body will offer more legroom, headroom, cargo space, and overall durability and flexibility - most notably a version with an all-wheel-drive power train that makes the vehicle more palatable to run in snowier northern climates.
Ford claims that modifications made to vehicles rear seating will put passengers in and out easier and quicker than from original sedan. Engineers moved rear seats back an additional 1.5 inches to generate more space for legs and create more space between passengers and driver. Just want to point your attention that old sedan offered 6 inches extra legroom space. To compensate this lack of luxury space Ford create a switch on the rear passenger side door that allows a rear seat passenger to control the front passenger seat ahead, providing even more legroom if necessary. Logically we came to conclusion that MKT passengers will not have a lot of luxury space.
We have to underline a new important features provided by a new Lincoln MKT Town Car. First of all is Wi-Fi hotspot capability for mobile tablets, laptops and other devices. Then passengers will have access to USB charging port, a 110-volt power socket in the rear seat center console as well as audio system controls.
In addition to the new Livery model, a specially engineered heavy-duty Limousine chassis is also available for the MKT Town Car.
The chassis can be stretched by up to 120 inches or 10 additional feet in length, while retaining the standard all-wheel drive capability to ensure a new MKT Town Car Limousine satisfies both operators and customers in all seasons over multiple lengths.
