The Nicest, Smartest and Meanest Celebrities

By Anthony Marks

Celebrities tend to garner a lot of attention, no matter where they go or what they do. This is not surprising when you consider the fact that being rich and famous means having the public become interested in a lot of things that are usually part of a person's private life. Thus, it's easy to lose sight of the fact that celebrities aren't very different from you and me in a lot of ways. They can exhibit the same types of behavior that we see from everyone else.

Many celebrities, for instance, are known to be exceptionally rude people. They are mean to almost everyone they encounter, including their most ardent fans. This is most surprising when it comes from actors who are known for playing good-natured characters on television or in movies. A prime example would be Andy Griffith, whose reputation in real life was widely known to be - in many ways - the exact opposite of the affable characters he played, like small-town sheriff Andy Taylor played on The Andy Griffith Show, or southern lawyer Matlock.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, you have the stars who are known to be nice celebrities. These are people who always have time for fans as well as a kind or encouraging word. In other words, they really don't seem to take their celebrity for granted. Take Johnny Depp: Not only does he do the big stuff, like give lots of money to various charities, but he also does the little things, like signing autographs and sending fans gifts and personalized notes.

There are also celebrities who are shockingly smart. Quite a number of Tinseltown's elite are known for their brains as well as their beauty (or brawn). This camp contains a number of individuals who might come as a surprise to many people, such as Pulp Fiction director ( and high school dropout) Quentin Tarantino.

Basically, celebrities are, in a lot of ways, reflections of the general public. Many of them are nice, others are jerks, and so on. The difference is that people are more interested in seeing (and often get to observe) celebrity personalities on display.
