Head turbans are clothes which are generally worn over the head. They usually are wound around your head in order to form a pattern which effectively fits the person that wears them. They may be referred to by different terms like dastar or bulle.

There are several different kinds of such customary head-dresses. The varieties depend upon regions, cultures of the individuals wearing them and also their religion. It is further imperative to learn that they are known by people from dissimilar backgrounds by different titles. For example, individuals from India as well as Pakistan entitle them as Pagri whereas Sikhs entitle them as Dastars.

The historical foundation of these head-wears dates back to many years ago. They were put on by different people, majorly for reasons of identity plus culture. Arabs wore them during the long distance trade, whereas some soldiers from the Byzantine army wore them for the reason of their identity.

There are large regional variations as much as those attires are concerned. It is so since they vary largely in shapes, sizes and colors. Besides, the methods by which they are mass-produced and tied vary too.

They are widely worn in many countries. In Pakistan, it is more common among the people staying in rural areas than the ones living in urban centers. Whilst these clothes are put on by many of the Pakistanis, the styles and colors vary widely across the nation. The main colors present are white as well as black turbans.

Afghans use them as part of their national costumes and also in a broad range of colors and models. Some of them are large hence are worn quite loosely, while others are small hence are worn quite tightly. The large loose and small tight types are found in the southeast parts of Afghanistan and the capital, Kabul respectively. Each ethnic group in Afghanistan has its own specific type of turban. However, there are those that are similar countywide.

Turbans have diverse meanings. This is since each community of persons using them links them to given specific meanings. For example, given politicians in Colombia use them so as they appear unique; given ladies in India use them for the reasons of their individuality whereas some people use them due to them being their customs and cultural observances.

These apparels have some religious inferences. Muslims wear them since they emulate the form of life of their originator, Prophet Muhammad who used to wear black and white dresses. The Sikhs use them because it recognizes them as warriors. Due to that reason, Sikh religion is usually known as the warrior religion. They too wear them to keep their long hair. That is because they usually do not cut their hair according to their religious customs and teachings.

Head turbans are used by females and males. They might be manufactured from a combination of cotton with silk or polyester, wool or pure cotton. Their prices vary from one area to another area. This also relies upon the people using them. Besides, it also depends upon where they are being retailed; whether it is within the urban areas or rural areas.
