The Importance Of Wearing A Black Turban In The Communities Of The World

By Annabelle Newton

Cultures and religions all around the globe have always used a specific dress code so as to be easily recognized. This dress code allows them not only to be identified but also to demonstrate that there are different ranks and levels within their communities. Muslim professors use the black turban to distinct from Prophet Mohammad descendants. People in Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan keep this dress code as a sacred symbol of their faith.

As the majority of Islam uses white turbans compared to those that use the black turbans, they are still a sizeable number spread throughout the world. Although their numbers have dwindled in recent years, they still hold firmly to their belief as a matter of keeping it alive and following customary protocol. This is a custom that has been practiced for long and is inculcated into the people from an early age.

Sikh members of Hindu communities also have to wear a black turban. They do so in order to proclaim their ego obedience. That is to say that the black turban symbolizes their position as well as humility. Sikhs also wear black turbans for ancestry reasons, as they are pleased to show their origins. Those Sikhs who wear white turbans show their education.

Away from any religion or culture, a huge number of people wear turbans basically for hygiene. For example, many women in Africa wear turbans to keep dust off their hair and maintain their hairstyle for a longer time than is expected. Color does not matter but a sense of style is quite important. This has resulted in different communities having different elegances and patterns of their turbans.

Sad to say, several people have related turbans with dangerous standard ideas that have given rise to the proliferation of intolerance and discrimination worldwide. Several religions who allow their professors to wear a turban claim that they only have the permission to wear a turban if their family circumstances are good. The use of turbans to discriminate or categorize people is prohibited.

Nevertheless, there are many who have experienced the suffering of being stereotyped. Several people who wear turbans are believed to be part of a terrorist organization. This has lead to an increase of fear because they don't feel safe to move in a world where they are judged in a negative way.

Male members of several communities have the tradition of wearing a turban. Islamic as well as Hindu civilizations only let their men wear turbans at a determined age. Female and young members of the communities have to wear a very different outfit so as to relate them to the groups they belong to. It's the opposite in African communities, where women have to wear headdresses to display their compliance and to protect their hair.

A black turban has been associated and a distinction mark for religions and cultures. It also has meaning for many who use them for hygiene and neatness purposes. Whatever the case, we have understood that they are not to be used in a way that will bring about discrimination and stereotyping that causes divisions among people.
