Preparation is the Key to Saving Money On Concert Tickets

By Mara K. Santone

People worldwide prepare for the shows they want to see. They're exciting, they're fun, and it's always worth the seeing your favorite bands or singers. But I'm sure you know how costly tickets can be. No doubt they're worth the money, but the truth is that in this economy, the less money you have to pay for tickets, the better. In fact, a little lower purchase price could be the little bit of difference you need between going to the show and simply hearing about it later.

So, the question is, What do you have to do to save money on show tickets?

Saving money is primarily about where you buy your tickets, how far ahead you buy them, how close to the action you want to be (or how far back you can stand to be, i.e. seats further from the stage are more cost-effective), and the total number of show tickets you need.

Let's talk about each of these. 1) If you try to buy tickets the night of the show, you might get a fair price, but, if it's a show worth going to, you're probably not going to get the best seat. And I'm sure you'll agree that that can make a huge difference as to how much you're really going enjoy the show. So here's the thing: You can normally find out which shows are coming to town months beforehand and, normally, they'll offer early-bird specials. You see, show organizers like to sell a few tickets at a lower rate to the first hundred or so people for the purpose of "seeding" the venue. When other interested concert-goers go to buy show tickets they'll be provided a seating chart of chairs still available. If there are a hundred or two hundred seats already reserved, then it gives the impression of being a more popular show. It builds a little more excitement that way.

Ordering your tickets beforehand is unquestionably the number one chance you have of saving. Ordering in bulk will generally include a bulk discount in addition. If you want to see a band or singer with a group of friends or post your interest on Facebook and notice that a bunch of fans are interested, but possibly don't want to shell out the cash, you can arrange to order the tickets in bulk.

Have everyone give you the money to buy the show tickets - either in person or through Paypal or some other transfer service - and then use an online show tickets site to buy them for everyone. As long as the show organizers are offering tickets in bulk, you should generally be able to save a lot of money just by arranging the ticket buying!
