Karan Johar's Student of the Year turns heads with Vele"

Model-turned-actor Siddharth Malhotra has been in the spotlight ever since Karan Johar first unveiled plans for his upcoming movie, Student of the Year. The newcomer will make his first big-screen appearance in the movie. Siddharth Malhotra will star in the movie alongside Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. Directed by Karan Johar, who will also be producing the movie under the Dharma Productions banner and Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment, Student of the Year will release on the 19th of October, 2012.

In the film, Siddharth Malhotra will play the role of Abhimanyu Singh, and independent and virtuous boy seeking a better footing in life. Unlike his co-actors Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, Siddharth has no filmy background and his performance in the upcoming film is expected to grab a load of attention. Alia Bhatt hails from a family rooted deep in tinsel-town and is the daughter of director-producer-screenwriter Mahesh Bhatt. Varun Dhawan on the other hand is the son of director David Dhawan. Given the fact that acting wasn't a family trade, Siddharth Malhotra, the son of Dr. Rajeev Malhotra and Leena Malhotra, has labored tremendously to make himself screen-ready.

After beginning his modeling career at the young age of 16, Siddharth Malhotra has walked the ramp for Indian as well as international fashion designers including Roberto Cavalli, Manish Arora, Manish Malhotra and Rohit Bal, appearing at shows in Paris and Dubai. Siddharth has also bagged several titles including the Gladrags Face of the Year 2009 award and the NDTV Model of the Year 2010 and has been featured on the RedBook, Men's Health and Gladrags.

Apart from Vele", the movie also includes the song Ishq Wale Love". A slow and soothing number with Shekhar Ravjiani, Salim Merchant, Neeti Mohan on vocals, the song has minimal music and is an easy-listen. Complete with a guitar strumming in the back, the song also has string melody and romantic lyrics good enough to melt your heart. Neeti Mohan's vocals work as the icing on the cake for the song, making it all the more pleasant to listen to. Also, this song adds variety to an otherwise thumpy soundtrack for Karan Johar's Student of the Year.

The film Student of the Year is set apart from the usual trend of movies directed by Karan Johar. This will also be Karan's first without his lucky mascot Shah Rukh Khan, with the director using newcomers instead.
