What You Should Consider When Choosing Engagement Rings DC

By Erica Cabrera

There is a huge selection of engagement rings DC to choose from. It all depends on the type and style you want and also how much you want to spend. You can get some outrageously expensive rings such as those purchased by movie stars and royalty. There are also cheap one that can cost just a few dollars.

There variation in ring price is essentially a reflection of the material that has been used to create it. Most ring bands are made from gold but not all gold is equal. Some of the cheapest and least pure are of 9 carats only. Some of the highest and most valued are of 24 carats. Also, weight is a factor as well. Some gold jewellery is hollow inside and cannot be described as solid gold. Others are gold plate that has been fused onto an inferior metal beneath.

In addition to gold, other precious metals are used in jewellery. Platinum is often more highly priced than gold and is also graded by purity. It is silver or white in colour rather than the familiar yellow of gold jewellery. A much cheaper but high quality metal is silver. It can be polished to a very high shine although tends to tarnish if not attended to regularly. However, it will not cause allergic reactions or greening of the skin as do cheap metals.

Everyone recognizes engagement rings because of the format of their design. Traditionally, they are expected to contain a precious stone at the centre. The more money available the bigger and clearer the stone that can be purchased. Diamonds are the favourite stone but others are also very popular indeed. Common choices are emeralds, sapphires and rubies.

Common designs include the bigger central stone to be bordered by smaller ones in the same or complimenting colour. Not everyone can afford these precious stones but equal beauty can be achieved with synthesized crystals such as cubic zirconias or semi precious stones like amethysts.

The most popular engagement rings DC presently are replicas of the one given to Kate Duchess of Cambridge by Prince William. It previously belonged to his mother, Princess Diana. Read more about: Engagement Rings DC
