Just How To Become The New Rap Artists

By Farah Fan

Many known rap artists have been receiving the hip-hop scene for so long that they have seen performers come and go, and trends transform. But there has been one development that one said has disappointed him greatly, the young talents. There are not enough talented rappers out there right now. The voice of the young is not sufficiently strong in the game at all right now. It is almost nonexistent. While many performers have thrived in R&B and pop, high-profile success for rap performers has been more evasive lately.

From the beginning hip-hop has been viewed as a man's world, and discussions of inequality within the genre has come up often. In fact, many times such disrespect was the subject of many rappers' tracks. Nowadays, with the music industry struggling, there is a particular dearth of new rap artists taking center stage. It was a different hip-hop landscape when MC Hammer first burst open on the scene. Some new gangster rap crews obtained some hits, but the birth of this rapper helped usher in performers. One rapper was a teenager when he emerged, along with another rapper, as one of the genre's first celebrity groups.

One said the music industry is so concentrated these days on the bottom line that there is little increased exposure of creating female talent. When you have this major organization that has been kind of absorbed by corporate hands, how required is the black woman's viewpoint. Not unless she is discussing being that kingpin's main girl and she is referring to nothing that is really going to cultivate the people the way are known innately as black women being able to do, there is really no space for that kind.

Many new artists are finding it hard to navigate today's market. It is a lot of youths trying to get into it, but many young artists do not know what direction to take. They do not know whether to be a gun slinger for a gangster or a rival head, and they are confused as to what role they need to take. It is something that has never been done before, at least with such gusto. Some new rapper has grown up listening to rap and has probably heard rap words countless times. He has now made the jump from listening to the words to infusing it into his own music, a choice that has brought on much debate and discussion in the rap world.

New rap artists show few, if any, indications of growth. The genre's biggest superstars all seem to be turning down in terms of sales. It has expanded so bad for new rappers, especially female, that the recording academy did away with the best female artist category of the Grammy Awards, two years after its inception, due to a shortage of eligible entries. The category was combined with best male rap artist to generate the best rap solo performance field. The problem they had with the new ones who have come about is that they do not need a shred of talent.
