Upcoming Rap Artists

By Margaret Smith

There's been a rash of rising hip-hop rap artists on the brink of fame. Despite the bevy of so-called upcoming stars, only a handful of them will still be around to have interest the coming year. Some of them wouldn't even make it at the end of the year, fizzling out due to lack of audience fascination with their works and music. Not just becoming one of the artists, a rapper should aspire to influence the crowd as well as inspire them through the music he makes.

One particular black rapper, compared to his effect, is probably a much better technical rapper, but he's got a style which will make it difficult for a major label to sign him. And that's not always a bad thing, but in this situation he just has more mass appeal, especially when he's carrying a deal with major labels in hand. His song has changed him from a fairly unknown underground artist into somewhat of a mainstream name. He dazzled listeners with his blend of lyrical wonderment, deep thoughts, plus rumbling flow, and left everybody asking for more. His tribute to big names within the industry has been simple teasers, building up even more anticipation for his own album.

There've been a lot of comparisons of a white rapper to Eminem, but almost any 'writer' who does so is lazy, probably racist, and must drop the pen quickly. This rapper is among the most distinctive artists of this recent generation, and his own style is pretty much unique. His has become one of the most popular mixtures of the year, but even it does not entirely expose all of his various talents. Rapid-fire raps, spoken word, as well as the capability to switch between flows immediately, a few of the tools on his belt. The only real problem which is still in his way is correctly presenting these skills on his album.

While other rap artists are on the top new lyricists, one particular rapper is at the other end of the spectrum. He's got more gunshots, screaming as well as noises than rhymes, but do not mistake his lack of lyrics for a lack of intelligence. He freely confesses in the face of all of his naysayers that he is 'not a rapper', and he utilizes it to his full advantage. He still needs to build a strong following off of his music. His debut single was remixed by many artists, and some of his other songs have turned out to be club bangers. Whether you like him or not, this rapper has been one of the most flourishing artists.

One more rap artist with a rewarding recording contract was found guilty of wasting no time working on his upcoming project. 3 months after his release, his next project was all set for the market. While focusing on his new project, this rapper felt as if he was the hottest in his town and no other local rap artist was progressing at his pace or even equalled his work ethic. Bizarre enough, he was outmatched in his impending mix-tape. He had to defeat his very own expectations and surpass others.
