Many Venues Of Today Could Feature Civil War Gowns

One of the appropriate times for donning civil war gowns is during the civil war reenactment activities seen around the country. Men in military uniform are often the most visible dress of the day. The ladies are demurely decorating the battlefield sidelines in their lovely dresses, but not too near the action.

When prom time rolls around for the seniors in high school, there is often a search for a unique and special theme for the night of dancing. If one is chosen that features the 1800's or 1900's, the dresses would be long, full and beautifully decorated. The fellahs could go along with the theme and dress accordingly.

Another place that a gown of this style could be seen is at a costume party. These parties may be thrown at home, with decorations to suit the times. On sea cruises, there is one night on board ship that sometimes requires a costume, and dresses of this period can be seen.

Weddings with this theme could also be popular among some crowds. The books showing wedding dresses often feature a few that could be reminiscent of this period. Elegant and gorgeous, these gowns would make any bride shine on her special day. The groom could also opt into the festivities and don a military uniform costume, or evening wear worn by men long ago.

There may have been styles of these pretty outfits that required a hoop to complete the look. There were certain dresses that were worn in the daytime, often with morning, afternoon and evening changes made.

Women who traveled by stage coaches on a trip, or even wagon trains moving all their belongings across the prairie, would most likely have worn what would be called travel dresses. More utilitarian civil war gowns without hoops and delicate fabrics would likely have been chosen by the sensible women of that period. Many of these styles may be seen online, if a search is made for them. Civil War Gowns
