Reinforce The Seams With Jean Rivets

By Lillian Powell

Jean material is very heavy and hard to sew. The seams might not stay together either because of all of the abuse that pants take from simple activities. This is one reason that jean rivets are placed on the seams.

Rivets are also good for decoration. They might put in extra ones so that the pants will be fancy. Many times they are going to placed on the back or front pockets too.

It is often hard to get a needle to go through jean material. It does not matter how sharp it is or how strong the person sewing is either. The material is thicker than others and most sewing machines are not able to get a needle through and will break it trying.

A rivet has to be put on the pants using a rivet gun. Some of them are easier to use than others. A person that works on a lot of craft projects may already have one of these. They can be bought at most craft stores. There are different sizes of rivets though.

Most of the rivets that will be used for jeans will be metal. The plastic ones will not work on jean material because they are going to break too easily. They could be a silver or gold color. They might be painted too. Several kinds are available including decorative ones or plain ones.

Craft stores are a great place to find them. Anybody can buy them and replace the ones that have fell off as long as the material is not torn. These are a great way to make some fancy looking clothing just by adding cute or shiny ones in certain places.
