How To Examine The Right Concealable Body Armor For You

By Margarita Joseph

Extra life protection is always welcome in whatever form or fashion. This will of course be of no surprise to important people and high profile people who live with life and death situations most times of their lives. Attention is good, but not all kinds of attention is always of the good kind. Therefore if you live a high risk lifestyle, then it may be time that you get the right concealable body armor for yourself.

Many types of concealed armor exists in the market today and can come in the form of light or heavy varieties. Prime consideration however would be the ability to stop high velocity projectiles at the required moment. These armors are made with popular Kevlar materials or some form of Kevlar composite combination, making them light and versatile for everyday use.

Since you will be fairly spoilt for choice when looking for new armor, you will need a basic guide as what brand or style to buy and so on. Do not just base your choice on popularity or because it is cheap in terms of price. Other factors will have to play in your choice.

You must make sure that the item that you are buying has passed or has the necessary safety standards. This will usually be indicated on a label inside which will also include manufacturer name and brand, model number and most importantly the protection rating. Also check how old or how long the item has been on the shelf. If it has not been bought from the store or dealer for five years then perhaps it will be better to buy one which is of a more recent make.

The carriers should also be comfortable and durable and can take a lot of wear and tear. The carrier is basically the pocket wherein one places selected ballistic panels and padding. Once installed, these ballistic pads should not be moving around and give you a bulky feeling. You should always be comfortable when wearing this.

Straps are also an important piece or item on your future purchase. Check that these are all adjustable and flexible. Carefully check the stitching alongside the straps to make sure that they are reinforced and properly pressed into the material. Some stitches can actually protrude and give you an uncomfortable rash or itch when your skin is pressed against it for long periods of time. Strap buckles are also important. Mostly made of plastic or high grade aluminum, make sure that the serrated teeth on these buckles are not worn.

Whether you are a man or a woman will also be a slight factor in your purchasing decision. Although most manufacturers do not take this into account, some actually do. How heavy or light your body frame is will also factor in to your final decision.

In general, these are the basic factors you should take into consideration when you go choose and buy your next or first concealable body armor. It may seem quite a handful to take into consideration but one should take extra care in making sure that you want to have all basic things covered when it comes to your life and personal safety.
