Forms Of Modest Islamic Clothing

By Enid Hinton

A religion is characterized by the set of rules which govern those who are loyal to it. A good example of such is the Islamic religion. This places a very huge importance to the governing in how faithful people dress. They are not supposed to be influenced by the western culture or the latest trend and below is a preview of modest Islamic clothing.

It is stipulated that women wear clothing which covers the whole of their bodies, from head to toe. Most of them wear long dresses referred to as maxi dresses. They should not be extremely fitting but are supposed to be free flowing which is a sign of self-dignity as they are meant to hide off most of the skin which is somehow associated with intriguing sexual desires.

On top of these maxi skirts, the tops should also not reveal any part of their skin. They are supposed to have long sleeves. The colour is not an issue hence women can put on any colour which catch their eye the most. Many people complain that they may feel heat but interestingly enough these ladies have adapted to this kind of life so they do not even complain.

During games competitions, attires worn are supposed to be those which show respect. There are some games for example tennis in which females dress in miniskirts. For the Muslim ladies, below these skirts are trousers so that they can conserve the purity of their religion and not be led into sin. Sports sweaters are also designed for this purpose.

Ladies are also supposed to put a covering on their heads. This is because it acts as distraction to men and can cause them to become lustful which is a sin. While in the house they can let loose their hair but should not be seen like this outside their homes the only men who are supposed to get access to this view are the husbands and family members only.

Men are also not left aside in this endeavor. An Islamic man is usually identified with his long robes. Inside these robes they put on ordinary trousers and shirts. Special types of scarfs called Arafat which they use to wrap around their shoulders. On tops of their heads they put on caps which they remove when they walk in the house of prayer.

Actions have repercussions. If people go against this dressing code, they are dealt with accordingly. Most culprits who fall under this category are ladies, especially the young ones. They do so in an effort to fight for freedom of dressing. Those who have been identified doing this have been excommunicated from the Islam faith as punishment.

In conclusion, this Islamic religion places a huge pride on their dressing code. It acts as their marker. However, there are some individuals who view this as a form of dictatorship especially for the ladies. They argue that they should be left to dress as they please. This should not be the case as if the rules of this faith bind their faithful; they should be obeyed without question.
