Choices In Mens Leather Motorcycle Jackets

By Maria Snider

Mens leather motorcycle jackets have developed from almost bare plain coats into modern hi tech state of the art functional protection for the rider. Whereas before all that separated you from the hard and harsh road surface was perhaps only one layer of not even heavy duty leather, you are now enveloped in a breathable, flexible armor filled one bearing fluorescent strips to even protect you at night!

You will find that most leathers are breathable and aide with air flow. Because of their dual functions and the amount of leather involved, they do not come cheaply and you need to work out how much your budget is before setting your heart on a particular brand.

The modern equipment will incorporate both foam and Kevlar protection. These will be sited on the elbows, forearms and shoulders and kidneys, as well as the integral back protection most now incorporate.

A hump positioned on the back of the equipment is to limit drag from the riders helmet. Increasingly they are also containing a special carbon armor to protect the rider if they were to have an accident.

It will either come in two parts or a one piece set. If you are having it custom designed you can tie in the colours on your leathers to those of your bike or if competing to tie in with your team members or theme. These bespoke items are costly but will go the distance in terms of protection and wear.

Your jacket should last for an entire lifetime, and should never need replacing. Generally the more you spend on a coat the longer it will last. Cheap coats will eventually wear out at the seams which could be a hazard when riding.

It is worth paying that bit extra so that you end up with a quality item, which can go a long way to ensuring your safety. You will probably also want to look good when out riding so that has to be factored in. Mens leather motorcycle jackets come in a vast array of different styles and prices so shop around.
