20th Century Fox recently came out with their new drama movie entitled, "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps" into movie theaters a few months ago. I just got done checking it out,and I agree with the top film critics' positive assessment of the flick.
The flick delivered an interesting, cool, story, filled with lots of drama, money scandals, and more. The flick stars: Michael Douglas, Shia LaBeouf, Josh Brolin, Frank Langella, Carey Mulligan, Susan Sarandon, Vanessa Ferlito, and Charlie Sheen.
"Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps" centered around character Jake Moore (LaBeouf) who worked for character Louis Zabel (Langella) at his firm. However, when character Bretton James (Brolin) who works for another bank, spreads a negative rumor about Zabel's company, everything goes downhill, causing Jake to loose his job, along with a lot of other people in the company.
Later on in the film, Gordon Gekko gets released from prison after serving 8 long years, and ends up starting a bit of a friendly relationship with Jake. Jake in an effort to get back at Bretton, starts a negative rumor of his own about his company that captures Bretton's attention when it costs him money. The attention gets Jake a position with Bretton's company. However, that business relationship doesn't last very long after Jake finds out just how bad and conniving Bretton truly is.
Jake ceases working there, and attempts to invest in a new, innovative energy business. However he gets double-crossed by Gordon, and also loses his girlfriend Winnie Gekko in the process of all this. It ends with a shocking ending that involved scandals being brought to the surface and an unlikely charitable deed being performed by Gordon.
I really enjoyed watching the film. The story kept me interested the entire time. It was never dull. It delivered one money scandal after another in the fast-paced world of Wall Street, along with emotional drama scenes with the emotional and sensitive Winnie Gekko character who just always seemed to get upset pretty much at everything. However, she did manage to squeeze out some happy moments.
In my opinion, Michael Douglas did a great job reprising the Gordon Gekko role. I gave this move a very good B grade.
